january!

the rest of break was pretty great, props to the people who break up college like this because i really needed it. as you will read it kinda didn't end here but we did say goodbye to lucas. we watched some great movies & it was so much epic jenkintown time but then i was back at school for training. hello #martysupreme second viewing with my awesome rha friends.
then the semester began, and that was a fun five days, we had our trivia night which was actually really epic and then after such a fun intro week i decided to pour myself a glass of wine and perhaps i got a little tipsy on my friday evening. this made me all the more excited for zach to come over, but he had said he had a stomach ache so with caution he arrived and slowly an innocent night turned into the appendicitis saga. at roughly 3am we entered an uber to the nearest ER which i did not know carried such a poor reputation but we quickly found out it was well earned. it was cold and we were so so tired and we still had no idea what was wrong then but by the morning after his parents picked us up and let us sleep we were back at another hospital with an official diagnosis.
the rest of that week was a blur since we had crazy snow strom that week which further delayed me from taking the start of the semester seriously. see our masterpieces here . but we celebrated our one year at home with a frank lloyd wright puzzle and some chinese takeout. perfect kinda day for me and easy on the appendix patient. then just a few days later it was zach's birthday. such an attention seeker this month am i right? anyways we abridged the original celebration and just had his friends come over and had a little movie night. shoutout cailyn and amazon for the appendix themed decor and jello shots. the rest of that week was snow and human robot and laying around. we went to texas roadhouse for his family dinner and everyone hated it but we had a good time. so anyways happy 22nd to my favrite boy in the whole world.
like imagine this is your uber driver. not even slightly concerned with our destination but he did get us there safely. anyways zach was a great sport. loved that cafeteria and he was out of surgery and home by sunday morning!
in conclusion, this start made the semester really difficult to get a hold on but i registered for my first 7b (half semester course) and i feel a lot better about where i'm at but the disinterest in locking in is defintely showing. anways so below we have the fish sweater i made for zach's birthday + some memories from a magical night of running in the snow after getting toasted from 25 cents beers and shane and cailyn are the best. also got to sled on the famous acme hill and then the snow stayed but we had to leave and get serious.
i feel like i haven't really mentioned my food journey on here and a january blog doesn't feel like a place i really have to detail anything crazily but i will say zach and i have taken dinner very seriously this year and it means so much to me to have an accountability layer and feel genuinely excited to try new recipes. i have tried so many new foods this year and though we are frequently setting the fire alarm off and burning things semi-occasionally it has been so fufilling. maybe one day i will upload a piece i wrote freshman year on my life detailed in food dishes. it was for a food class but i was able to really chart my relationship to food and i think i'd probably have some dramatic changes to add just two years later. anyways this is literally just a nyt garlic noodle recipe and potstickers but like food is good did you guys know.
okay so end of january included a basketball game, a fun night out, and a trivia night win! honestly a boring month i'm sorry guys, i will joy maxx next one
ok byeeeee happy winter!
